Returns, Exchanges & Cancellations
We want you to be confident in your purchase. If something is not right, we will do our best to help with an eligible return, exchange, store credit, or cancellation under the policy below.
14-Day Refund Window
Eligible items may be returned for a refund or store credit within 14 days of delivery.
30-Day Store Credit
Eligible items may be returned for store credit only within 30 days of delivery.
Authorization Required
All returns must be authorized before being shipped or brought back to Northwest Knives.
Return Eligibility
Orders are eligible for a refund or store credit within 14 days of the delivery date, as long as the item is in new, unused, uncarried condition and includes all original packaging, paperwork, accessories, and manufacturer materials.
Eligible items may be returned within 30 days of the delivery date for store credit only.
- Items must be new, unused, uncarried, and unmodified.
- Items must not show signs of cutting, sharpening, disassembly, pocket carry, clip wear, scratches, damage, or use.
- Original manufacturer packaging must be included and must not be damaged, written on, taped, labeled, or used as the shipping box.
- Returns must include all original paperwork, boxes, pouches, sheaths, accessories, and included parts.
- All returns are subject to inspection before a refund, exchange, or store credit is approved.
Please do not attach a shipping label directly to manufacturer packaging. Items returned with damaged or labeled manufacturer packaging may be refused, returned to the customer, or subject to a restocking fee.
Refunds, Store Credit & Timing
If your return is approved after inspection, we will issue the refund or store credit based on the return option selected and the timing of your return.
- Returns requested within 14 days of delivery may qualify for a refund or store credit.
- Returns requested after 14 days and within 30 days of delivery may qualify for store credit only.
- Refunds are issued to the original payment method, minus any original paid shipping fees.
- Store credit may be issued for the full eligible return amount when store credit is selected.
- Approved refunds are processed after the returned item has been received and inspected.
- Bank and card processing times may vary after Northwest Knives issues a refund.
- Original shipping fees are non-refundable once an order has shipped.
Items That Are Not Eligible for Return
Some items are not eligible for return, refund, or exchange. This helps protect customers, manufacturers, and the condition of inventory sold as new.
- Used, carried, sharpened, disassembled, damaged, altered, or modified items
- Items showing pocket-clip wear, scratches, cutting marks, signs of handling beyond inspection, or any indication of use
- Items missing original packaging, paperwork, accessories, boxes, sheaths, pouches, or included parts
- Items with damaged, taped, labeled, written-on, or incomplete manufacturer packaging
- Items returned without prior return authorization
- Gift cards
- Special orders or custom orders
- Items marked final sale
- Any item that cannot legally be returned, resold, or shipped back to the customer
Clearance, Closeout & Sale Items
Clearance, closeout, discontinued, and final-sale items are not eligible for a refund. If approved by Northwest Knives, some clearance or closeout items may be eligible for store credit only, provided the item is returned in new, unused, uncarried condition with all original packaging and accessories.
Items specifically marked final sale are not eligible for return, exchange, refund, or store credit unless Northwest Knives shipped the wrong item or made an order fulfillment error.
Preowned, Custom & MidTech Items
Preowned items may be returned for store credit only, provided they meet the return eligibility requirements and are returned within the allowed return window.
Custom and MidTech items may be subject to a 10% restocking fee unless store credit is selected. This fee helps cover the additional handling and reduced resale flexibility associated with these items.
Restocking Fees & Habitual Returns
We want returns to be fair and reasonable for everyone. Customers with frequent or repeated returns may be subject to a 10% restocking fee.
As an example, more than two returns within a 30-day period may be considered habitual return activity and may be subject to this fee.
A restocking fee may also apply when returned items require additional inspection, handling, repackaging, or when manufacturer packaging is damaged.
How to Start a Return
All returns require authorization before the item is shipped or brought back to Northwest Knives.
Start a Return Online
- Log in to your Northwest Knives account.
- Find the order you would like to return.
- Click the return option next to the order.
- Follow the return instructions provided.
If you checked out as a guest, create an account using the same email address used at checkout. If needed, contact us and we can help connect the order to your account.
Start a Return by Email or Phone
- Email info@northwestknives.com with your name, order number, and reason for return.
- Call us at (208) 884-8626 Tuesday through Saturday, 10 AM to 6 PM Mountain Time.
Please do not send items back without return authorization. Unauthorized returns may not be processed and may be returned to the customer.
Return Shipping
Customers are responsible for return shipping costs unless Northwest Knives made an error, such as shipping the wrong item.
- We recommend using a trackable and insured shipping method for all returns.
- Northwest Knives is not responsible for return packages that are lost, stolen, or damaged in transit.
- Returns must be received by Northwest Knives within 10 days of the return authorization being issued.
- Original shipping fees are non-refundable once an order has shipped.

Exchanges
We are happy to help with exchanges when the item qualifies and the replacement item is available.
- Customers are responsible for shipping the original item back to Northwest Knives.
- Northwest Knives will cover standard shipping on the replacement item after the return is approved.
- Exchange items are subject to availability and may not be held until the return is received and inspected.
- If the replacement item is unavailable, we can help with store credit or another eligible option.
Cancellations
Orders may be cancelled before they ship. Once an order has shipped and has been picked up by the carrier, we are no longer able to cancel the order and a return must be initiated instead.

- Please be aware that email requests are not always seen immediately and an order may ship before the cancellation request is processed.
Incorrect, Damaged, or Defective Items
If we shipped the wrong item, or if an item arrives damaged or appears defective, please contact us as soon as possible before using, carrying, sharpening, disassembling, or modifying the item.
- Please keep all packaging, paperwork, and shipping materials.
- Clear photos may be required to help us review the issue.
- Do not continue using an item that appears damaged or defective.
- If Northwest Knives made an order fulfillment error, we will help correct the issue.
Restricted Items & Local Laws
It is the customer’s responsibility to know and follow all applicable federal, state, and local laws before purchasing, receiving, returning, or exchanging any knife or restricted item.
If an item cannot legally be shipped to or from your location, we may be unable to complete the return or exchange.
In-Store Returns
If you are local to Meridian, Boise, Eagle, Star, Kuna, Nampa, Caldwell, or the surrounding Treasure Valley, you may contact us about bringing an eligible return to our Meridian store.
In-store returns are still subject to the same authorization, eligibility, inspection, and timing requirements listed on this page.
