About Jack Wolf Knives

Jack Wolf was Benjamin Belkin's grandfather, a man who always carried a slip joint knife with him. Young Ben found his grandfather's knives fascinating, and it wasn't long before Grandpa Jack gave him his first-ever knife. That one knife was all it took for Ben to develop a life-long passion for knives—a story many knife enthusiasts can relate to.

In 2020, Ben founded Jack Wolf Knives (JWK) in Scottsdale, Arizona. His mission? To provide heirloom-quality knives in timeless styles, made from modern materials that both knife collectors and everyday users can enjoy.

Ben personally designs all Jack Wolf knives in AutoCAD in his shop in Scottsdale. The knives are then manufactured to his strict specifications in a partner factory in China (Reate Knives, known for producing high-quality, dependable knives).

Using state-of-the-art CNC knife-cutting machines and exacting processes that include hand-ground blades and hand-fitted parts, Jack Wolf Knives delivers custom-quality knives at an affordable price.

What types of knives does Jack Wolf Knives offer?

Jack Wolf Knives offers heirloom-quality traditional-style slip joint knives that blend classic designs with modern materials and craftsmanship.

Some characteristics of the slip joint knife:

  • They're a type of folding knife that relies on the tension of a back spring to keep the blade open instead of a locking mechanism.

  • They've been around for centuries and are commonly seen in older styles of pocket knives, such as the classic Swiss Army knife.

  • The versatile slip joint can be used for various tasks, including cutting, slicing, or whittling.

  • Because they don't lock, they're more widely accepted in regions with strict knife laws.

JWK also offers fixed blades, such as this Midnight FIXedc, and folding knives like this The Benny front flipper.

How do Jack Wolf knives compare to other brands?

Jack Wolf Knives may be a relatively new entrant in the knife market, but it's fast amassing a loyal following. Jack Wolf knives are high-quality, aesthetically pleasing, and perform excellently. They can go toe to toe with some of the most established brands in the industry.

How do I care for my Jack Wolf knife?

Jack Wolf knives are made to last but will require maintenance from time to time to ensure they continue working as they should.

If you need to clean your knife after a hard day's work—such as after cutting game, where there's a lot of debris to remove—follow these tips:

  • Use warm, soapy water.

  • Use a toothbrush (or a similar soft-bristle brush) to scrub the knife down and remove all the gunk.

  • Dry the knife completely after washing. Use an absorbent terry cloth, an air compressor, or a can of compressed air (like those used for cleaning keyboards)—whichever you have available.

  • Allow the knife to dry thoroughly. It's extremely important that your knife is completely dry to prevent rusting.

  • When lubricating your knife, just about any lubricant designed for metal surfaces will work. Even mineral oil will do. If you're worried about cutting yourself, apply two layers of blue painter's tape over the blade for protection.

  • If you need your knives professionally sharpened, JWK, in collaboration with bladesmith and master sharpener Corey Dunlap, offers sharpening services using various water sharpening stones for the best possible edge.
