Warikomi is a traditional Japanese technique used in the creation of knives that involves wrapping a layer of soft steel around a very hard core. This process provides added protection to the hard center while also imparting some flexibility to the overall blade.
The "Gold" in the name refers to the gold series VG1 steel that is used in the construction of these knives. This type of steel is expertly tempered to ensure maximum durability and is one of the best modern steel choices for a blade. The knives created using this method are characterized by their thin, sharp blades that can hold their edge extremely well, making them ideal for precision cutting tasks.
The WG series is one of Kikuichi's longest standing Western style blades. It is light and comfortable, and once you pick one up, you won’t want to put it down.
