The patented OTF mechanism from Guardian Tactical provides smooth, responsive opening action. The unique thumb slide design is separated from the aluminum handle by a steel plate and 3 ceramic balls that eliminate grinding and wear. An innovative locking mechanism sits off to the side of the blade channel, preventing friction on the blade and button when opening and closing. QUALITY & LARGE, MANLY!

WANTED A LARGER OTF. GUARDIAN TACTICAL FITS THE BILL. NOT A CHEAP CHINA KNIFE, FOR SURE. MADE IN THE USA IS OF IMPORTANCE TO ME. IT'S NOT ALWAYS EASY GETTING AWAY FROM CHINESE CRAP, ESPECIALLY WITH OUR COUNTRIES GOVERNMENT & BIG BUSINESS', IN BED WITH THE ENEMY. IF YOU'RE A PLEATED DOCKER PANTS CUBICAL COWBOY, THIS MAY NOT BE FOR YOU.

Amazing Knife

This thing fires almost startlingly rapid. This is the first Guardian Tactical I’ve owned but not the last. The 040 is a big knife. It outdoes my Combat Troodons easily. I’m going to be purchasing a second as a backup. Microtech is great…. these are better. To each his own though. Easier firing and retracting. Ultra sharp out of the box. Fits my hand more comfortably with my gloves on. Locks up really well. Definitely found a winner for the job. Northwest Knives got it to me quicker than I thought as well. Good job guys.

Fires like a cannon, smooth as silk to fire

The Recon 040 hits like a truck when fired, but is silky smooth to actuate. Compared to my Microtech Combat Troodons, the actuation on the GT Recon 040 is superior. I like my CT Bounty Hunter, but I love my new GT 040. And you don't have to practice finger pushups to be able to fire and retract the blade. Also, razor sharp out of the box. Much sharper out of the box than any of the MT's I've purchased. My new EDC for Beast Mode.....

Another Superb Recon 040

This is my second Recon 040 from Northwest Knives. Absolutely superb construction and ergonomics on the knife…much better than Microtech’s Combat Troodon…especially no button rattle and easier/smoother deployment on the 040.

Extremely fast shipping and great customer service from Northwest. Would definitely buy from them again!

Big Bad OTF

I have a few of the smaller Guardian Tactical Recon 035 models and always wanted to experience a 040. Harder to find than the 035. Folks, the 040 is a much bigger super size up from the 035. Fit and finish is excellent, the Elmax blade has a great super sharp edge out of the box. It also has the smoothest button to deploy and retract bar none. It’s a beast but I like it very much and give it 5 stars out of 5. Good buy!
